Rights and Responsibilities upon Disenrollment
When can you end your membership in our plan?
Most people with Medicare can end their membership only during certain times of the year. Because you have Medicaid, you may be able to end your membership in our plan or switch to a different plan one time during each of the following Special Enrollment Periods:
- January to March
- April to June
- July to September
If you joined our plan during one of these periods, you'll have to wait for the next period to end your membership or switch to a different plan. You can't use this Special Enrollment Period to end your membership in our plan between October and December. However, all people with Medicare can make changes from October 15- December 7 during the Annual Enrollment Period.
In certain situations, you may be eligible to end your membership at other times of the year. This is known as a Special Enrollment Period.
If any of the following situations apply to you, you may be eligible to end your membership during a Special Enrollment Period. These are just examples, for the full list you can contact the plan, call Medicare, or visit the Medicare website (https://www.medicare.gov):
- Usually, when you have moved
- If you have Medicaid
- If you are eligible for “Extra Help” with paying for your Medicare prescriptions
- If we violate our contract with you
- If you are getting care in an institution, such as a nursing home or long-term care (LTC) hospital.
